Thanks to a recently-completed 8.3 million dollar renovation, Sam Suplizio Stadium is one of the premier baseball stadiums in the country, and serves as home for the 20-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion Colorado Mesa Mavericks. Owned by the city of Grand Junction, it was opened in 1949.

Not only does it afford fans a spectacular view of the Mavs’ exciting brand of baseball from anywhere in the park, but the 10,000 seat stadium offers luxury boxes, modern concession areas, a state-of-the-art press box and unique chairback seating to give fans the ultimate college baseball experience. Beautifully appointed locker rooms provide the Mavs and their opponents with first-class preparation areas. The dugouts were expanded to major league size specifications and a suspended backstop netting was installed for unobstructed views of the field.

The playing surface is one of the finest in the country thanks to a full-time maintenance staff and a Grand Junction climate suited for the sport of baseball.  It’s no wonder the Mavericks enjoy one of the best home-field advantages in all of collegiate baseball.  Since the 2003 season, the Mavs have won over 76 percent of their games in that time span. The Mavs set a school record with 22 straight home wins during the 2009 season.

In late May, Suplizio Field hosts the NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament, and from June through September the stadium is home to the Colorado Rockies minor league affiliate, the Grand Junction Rockies.

Sam Suplizio Field is located on the corner of 12th street and North Ave.
