GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University head men's soccer coach Todd Padgett announced Thursday (July 9) that former Maverick defender Stan Schrock has been hired as an assistant coach.

"I am ecstatic about hiring Stan Schrock as the program's first assistant coach, and welcome him back to the program," said Padgett. "His character, integrity, passion and commitment to Maverick soccer are welcome qualities for the future of the program."

Schrock earned All-RMAC accolades as a defender for CMU while leading the Mavericks to multiple RMAC Championships and an appearance in the NCAA Final Four. The Okinawa, Japan, native earned Academic All-American honors and graduated magna cum laude from Colorado Mesa University with a degree in mass communication. He went on to play professionally for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks Football Club.

"I am honored to be named the assistant coach for Colorado Mesa University and to work with Todd Padgett," said Schrock. "With the opportunity to return to CMU and Grand Junction, I couldn't ask for a better situation to begin my professional career."

Schrock served as a youth coach with the Western Slope Premier soccer club, in addition to coaching at several soccer camps in Okinawa, Japan.

The Mavericks will open the 2015 season Sept. 4 at St. Edward's.
