SANTA BARBARA, California - The Colorado Mesa University cheer squad recently completed the Universal Cheerleaders Association training camp at UC-Santa Barbara. This was the second year in a row the team participated in the camp, which featured 22 Maverick athletes.

This year the team took home the following awards: Division II Small Coed Overall (First Place), Fight Song, Sideline, and Gameday (First Place), and the squad also earned an award for continued program improvement.

"This camp has set the tone for another great season!" Coach Athena Whaley said.

Look for the Mavericks Cheer team on the sidelines this fall during Colorado Mesa football games.
