Box Score CANYON, Texas – Colorado Mesa limited Tarleton State to just 35 percent shooting on the night and outrebounded the TexAnns 35-20 in a 66-44 win and a berth in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the second straight season.
Hannah Pollart controlled the paint from the get go and provided the Mavericks with another scoring threat. Pollart finished with 12 points and a team and season-high 12 rebounds. She and
Aubry Boehme combined to hold Daktronics Region Player of the year Kiara Wright to just 14 points and seven rebounds.
Boehme finished with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Sharaya Selsor led all scorers with 20 points. Selsor finished with two of the Mavericks three three-pointers made on the night.
Christen Lopez gave the TexAnn guards fits all night. Lopez finished the game with seven steals and helped force Tarleton guard Brianna Bledsoe into nine turnovers and just six points on 3-of-11 shooting.
The Mavericks shot 45 percent (23-of-51) from the floor on the night and held Tarleton state 31 points below their season scoring average 75.7 points a night. They had 11 steals on 20 turnovers which led to 16 points.
At the half, Colorado Mesa led 36-23 with
Sharaya Selsor leading the way with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
Hannah Pollart and
Aubry Boehme each grabbed five rebounds in the half.
The TexAnns were held to 40 percent (8-of-20) from the field. Daktronics Region Player of the Year Kiara Wright had 10 points and four rebounds in the half.
The Mavericks are now 30-1 on the season with Head Coach
Taylor Wagner 61-3 in his two seasons at the helm.
Colorado Mesa advances to their second straight NCAA South Central Championship game. The Mavericks will play at 7:00pm (CDT) against an opponent yet to be determined.
