GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa head softball coach Ben Garcia has announced that nine student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Mavericks for the 2016 season.

Helped Rocky Mountain High School to the first round of the 2014 State Championship…Hit .449 with 34 stolen bases in 2014…2014 Athlete of the Year for the Front Range Conference…Competed in the sprints for the Lobos…Plays for the Triple Crown Stars 18 Gold…Has a 3.70 GPA…Plans to major in nursing…Daughter of Matt and Karen Robbins.

Coach Garcia: "Courtney will play an important role in our offense and defense. She has tremendous speed and will be very disruptive at the plate and on the bases."

  Mckenzie Surface - Colorado Springs, Colo. (Discovery Canyon High School)

Went 15-3 in the circle with era of 2.47. 157 strikeouts in 119 innings pitched and hit .368 with five homeruns to lead the Thunder to the second round of the 2014 State Championship…2013 Colorado All-State First Team… Plays for the Colorado Springs Thunder…Has a 4.03 GPA…Plans to major in psychology…Daughter of Melissa and Thomas Surface.

Coach Garcia: "Kenzie has the potential to be a top pitcher in our region. She has a great mound presence and composure. We are thrilled to have a local star from Discovery Canyon on our team. I expect her to mature and grow into a dominant player."

  Tegan Woosley - Aztec, NM (Piedra Vista High School)
Middle infielder
Three-time New Mexico State Champion…New Mexico 4A All-State First Team selection at short stop in 2014 and second base in 2013…2013 and 2014 New Mexico District 1-4A All Academic…Sisters Tawnee and Tabor are both members of the CMU softball team… Plays for the New Mexico Rivercats Club Team…Also competed in high school volleyball…Has a 3.26 GPA…Daughter of James and Mandy Woosley.
 
Coach Garcia: "Tegan is the younger sister of Tawnee and Tabor and is a dominate high school athlete and will continue to excel in college. Tegan brings a strong glove to our infield and a powerful bat to our lineup. We are excited to see what she can do in the RMAC."
