Complete Game Notes in PDFCMU Hosts RegionalsFor the first time in Colorado Mesa volleyball history, the NCAA regional tournament will be played in Brownson Arena. Â Colorado Mesa will be the top seed in the South Central Region, followed by three RMAC teams (Colorado Mines, MSU Denver and Regis). Â West Texas A&M and Tarleton are the five and six seeds. Arkansas Fort-Smith and Angelo State round out the eight teams coming to Grand Junction.Â
NCAA History CMU's opening round match against Angelo State will mark their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and eighth overall match.  Colorado Mesa fell in thee sets at Nebraska Kearney the last time they were in the tournament (2007). 2007 marked the fourth straight appearance for CMU. The Mavericks have a 3-4 record in NCAA Tournament competition.Â
We Are The Champions!With three straight victories over the weekend, the Mavericks can now add another title to this season historic run as they were crowned RMAC Tournament Champions for the first time in programs history. Colorado Mesa became just the fourth team to win the regular season title and RMAC Tournament in the same season since the tournament began in 1994. CMU blew past UCCS in the opening round of the tournament Tuesday (Nov. 11) winning in three sets. On Friday  (Nov. 14) the Mavericks gave the 1,200 fans in Brownson Arena a scare when they went to five sets against the Regis Rangers. In the title match on Saturday (Nov. 15), CMU steamrolled past the No. 22 ranked MSU Denver Roadrunners in straight sets to capture the title.Â
RMAC All-Tournament TeamThree Mavericks were named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
Melissa Hess's dominant offensive performance earned her tournament MVP. Â In the three matches, Hess racked up 56 points on 49 kills to hit .544.
Erin Perez's stellar defense got her a nod to the All-Tournament team. Perez tallied a total of 31 digs, with none coming more important than one she wore off the top of shoulder during her 18 dig performance in a five set match against Regis.
Jordyn Moody's two-way play put her on the all-tournament team as well. Moody accumulated 133 assists and 32 digs to record three straight double-doubles.Â
Lucky No. 7CMU is ranked 7th in this weeks AVCA poll, its highest ranking in school history. This is third straight week in which the team has been ranked within in the top-10Prior to his season's historical run, Colorado Mesa volleyball's highest national ranking was 17 (1995). With Colorado School of Mines dropping to No. 8, the Mavericks are now the highest ranking team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.Â
Mavs Collect RMAC HonorsFor the second time in his career as Colorado Mesa volleyball head coach,
Dave Fleming has been awarded RMAC Coach of the Year.

Undefeated at HomeFor the first time in over ten years, Colorado Mesa volleyball finished the regular season without a loss at home. The last regular season home loss for the Mavericks was Nov. 8, 2013 when they fell to Western New Mexico in four sets. CMU will look to stay undefeated at home and move onto the elite eight in Louisville, Ky. when they host the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament starting Friday (Nov. 21).Â
Statistical RankingsColorado Mesa ranks fifth in Div. II and second in the RMAC in assists with 13.63. Mesa is sixth in Div. II and second in the conference in kills per set with 14.53. The Mavericks lead the conference and are 18th in the country in opposing hitting percentage, limiting teams to hit just .132. CMU's .900 win-loss percentage is good enough for the 15th best in all of Div. II and top in the RMAC.
Jordyn Moody is sixth in Div. II in assists per set with 11.94 and 17th in total assists with 1,230. A .374 hitting percentage owned by
Melissa Hess is the best in the RMAC and good enough for 19th in the the country.
Abby Ney's .358 hitting percentage is not far behind for third in the conference and 31st in Div. II.

South Central RegionThe South Central Region is comprised of teams from the Rocky Mountain, Lonestar and Heartland conference's. The winner of the single elimination tournament will advance to the elite eight in Louisville, Kentucky Dec. 4-6.Â
#8 Colorado School of Mines OrederiggersThe Orediggers enter the NCAA Tournament as the two seed and are making their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Colorado Mines fell in the semi-final match of the RMAC Tournament to No. 22 MSU Denver in four sets. The Orediggers will play Arkansas Fort-Smith in the first round of the tournament.
#20 MSU Denver RoadrunnersMSU Denver will be the three seed in the South Central Regional Tournament. Their 15th straight NCAA tourney appearance marks the fourth-longest active streak in Div. II. The Roadrunners are 10-12 all-time in the postseason, including 7-15 under head coach Debbie Hendricks. MSU Denver will face the six seed Tarleton State. Colorado Mesa avenged their only conference loss of the season (Sept. 25) Â when they took down the Roadrunners in dominating fashion to win the RMAC Tournament title. Â
Regis Rangers Rounding out the RMAC teams to make the tournament, the fourth seed Rangers will be playing in their third straight NCAA Regional Tournament when they take on the five seed West Texas A&M. The two teams played earlier in the season, with the Rangers winning in three.  The Mavericks defeated the Rangers in a thrilling five set semifinal match of the RMAC Tournament. CMU has won two of the three meetings this season with two of the matches being pushed to five sets. Â
#24 West Texas A&M Lady BuffsThe two time defending South Central Regional Champions West Texas A&M Lady Buffs will be making the programs 25th overall postseason appearance. The Lady Buffs won their 19th Lone Star Conference Championship. As the fifth seed in the tournament, West Texas A&M will take on the Regis Rangers. The two teams played at the beginning of the season at the West Texas A&M's Lady Buff Classic, with the Lady Buffs falling to the Rangers in straight sets. Colorado Mesa defeated the then No. 6 ranked West Texas A&M in their second match of the season (Sept. 6) in three games.Â
Tarleton State TexAnnsAs the automatic qualifier and winner of the Lone Star Conference  Tournament Championship, the Tarleton State Texanns are making the programs first ever NCAA playoff appearance.  Tarleton will face off against MSU Denver in the first round of the tournament. Colorado Mesa played Tarleton for the first time last season (Sept. 7, 2013), beating the TexAnns in three sets.Â
Arkansas-Fort Smith LionsThe three time defending Heartland Conference Champions come into the tournament as the seven seed and will take on Colorado School of Mines. The Lions earned the conferences automatic bid to the tournament, in a come from behind five set winner over St. Edwards. CMU faced the Lions for the first time last season (Sept. 6, 2013), with the Mavs coming away with the 3-0 win.Â
Angelo State BellesThe eighth seed Belles (21-8) are making their fourth straight NCAA Div. II South Central Regional Tournament, advancing to the championship match the past two years. Angelo St. owns a  5-3 record in the regional tournament under head coach Chuck Waddington. ASU reached  the Lone Star Conference Championship finals for the fifth straight season. The Belles own the 3-5 overall advantage when they play the Mavericks. The then No. 15 ranked Angelo State gave Colorado Mesa the teams last three set loss when they played Sept. 7, 2013.Â
